Hero
So much animosity has been happening and a song that I listen to that closely defines how I am seeing the world right now is Hero by Skillet. Skillet is a religious group and most, if not all of their music has definitive ties with religion, however, with this song, since I am not religious, I see it more of the negativity that has been happening. In the song, they stated, according to genius, "someone save me from this hate, it's just another war, just another family torn, (i'm falling from my faith today) just a step from the edge, just another day in the world we live". When I hear that particular line, I always think how terrible stuff has and is continuing to happen, yet they state it like its not a big deal, not because it isn't, but because it happens so much that its redundancy is getting ridiculous. They also state that it is just another war, which to me doesn't necessarily mean on a global scale, but the little incidents that happen between two or more individuals. With all these shootings happening, family's are indeed being torn and the song continues in wishing someone would speak up and be the "hero". This song speaks volume to me because it addresses conflicts between humans and how it can be stopped if we just have heroes. I think when he address the hero, he doesn't mean one or two heroes to stop the incidents, but how anyone and everyone can unleash their hero side,in other words, change for the better and be more compassionate towards everyone so these shootings and tragedies don't have to occur.

I really love your pick. I agree with you 100% on the meaning of the song. I also think that all these tragedies that it is getting to a point that ridiculous especially as a nation. These politicians are supposed to be consider as heroes although, since they only care mostly about money, we as citizens have to take action into our own hands and do something that the politicians will not do because of money. It’s scary that money can make a country go blind. If you liked Hero by Skillet, then I recommend Youth Of The Nation by P.O.D.
